Aren’t we lucky!! If we are thirsty what do we do ? We can just go to the tap and turn it on for a refreshing glass of CLEAN, CLEAR WATER. But now it’s possible for us to help such families with the provision of a simple device called a Lifestraw. The result is that without anything else to drink they have to use whatever water they can find – often sharing it with their animals who pollute it with their toilet and their own illness. Not everyone in the world is as lucky as we are – in many countries there is no clean running water. If children in Africa or India want a drink of water they have to walk miles to the nearest water hole, and often they find it’s dirty and disease ridden.
Shelter Box + LifeStraws This Green box helps to bring clean water to millions of people across the world every year.
Every day . . . • 6,000 people (mainly children) die • Nine will die by the end of this song • Half the worlds poor are suffering illness • One in every 6 people don’t have clean water
How LifeStraw works . . . Cleaned water is sucked out here Suck air out of the tube here Filters block out dirt in the water as it passes through Active chemical covered textiles and charcoal filter out and neutralise bacteria Polluted water drawn in here
If each litre of water costs £1.50 - How much does it cost to provide 700 litres of clean drinking water ? • Answer: £1,050 • ( 700 + ½ 700 (350) = 1050
The good news is that LifeStraw costs just • £2.50 • It lasts an adult 1 yr • It lasts a child 2 yrs
If you realise how lucky we are . . .What could you do to help others?
