  2. There are four empires that rose up in Mesopotamia during 2300 to 539 B.C.E. They are • The Akkadian empire • The Babylonian empire • The Assyrian empire • The Neo-Babylonian empire

The Akkadian empire was a good empire. • They came from the north around 2300 B.C.E and lasted 56 yrs and had irrigation systems, writing, and religion. • Sargon ruled them and had good strategies for military and a big army. • The king destroyed city-walls and made sure his sons ruled after him.

  4. The Babylonian Empire had Codes and Laws • It was in central Mesopotamia after the Akkadians and unified the empire. • Hammurabi created laws from listening to the gods from 1792 – 1750 B.C.E and they were public. • They had agriculture and traded with other lands.   5. The Assyrian Empire rose from the crumbles of Babylon • They expanded their territory in 900 B.C.E because they had a powerful king and a feared army. • They were great farmers and built canals and aquaducts and were good artist. • The Assyrian empire crumbles after 300 years.

  6. The Neo-Babylonian ruled again under Nebuchadrezzar • They rebuilt the ziggurats, decorated the palace with greenery, and built walls around the city. • They loved math and astronomy and created the first sundial, the 60 minute hour, and the 7 day week. • The city lasted 75 years.

The Neo-Babylonian Empire is the Best Empire of All • They dug moats, made walls around the city, and had a good military. • We use the 60 minute hour and the 7 day week they created. • They had the hanging gardens of Babylon that was famous.
