Object Classes • Classes represent different kinds of objects, with different properties • Objects group naturally into types based on how they are used • Refine the groupings by considering: • What distinguishes each object type • What benefit you get from separate types • How you want to be able search by type
Class Hierarchy • Object types usually form a hierarchy • Hierarchy can be deep or shallow • Depends on your organization • Use whatever works for your object types • Group similar types together • Lowest level of hierarchy is for instances of objects • Higher levels are for grouping
Creating a Document Class • Use eB Director • System Admin view > Classes & Attributes > Documents • Create classes and build hierarchy at the same time Creates a docclass within theselected class

Class Controls • Specify behavior at the class level • Show user warnings • Prevent approval while warnings are present • Auto-create file containers
