Admission Requirements • Bachelor’s degree from a US institution or an equivalent • Passage of CBEST taken in Seoul at Pearson Test Center • Strong oral and written English skills • TOEFL of 79-80 internet based • Fingerprint Clearance • TB Clearance • Online application and interview with Education Faculty

  10. Program Requirements • Successful completion of coursework • Observations during coursework • Passage of CSET – subject knowledge test, prior to student teaching. This test is available only in California at this time

  11. Reading Instruction Competency Assessment (RICA) only for multiple subjects candidates • US Constitution: take an online test of 75 questions • Current CPR when you file for your credential

  12. Student Teaching • Student teaching is normally 17 weeks. One half of student teaching must be in California. • Single subject candidates teach two different preparations in their field. At least three periods for 17 weeks. • Multiple subjects candidates (K-6) student teach ½ in K-2 grades and ½ in 3-6 grades in WASC accredited schools.

  13. Waiving Part of Student Teaching • One-half of student teaching must be in a California public school during the regular school year. • One-half may be waived based upon qualified teaching experience in a WASC accredited private school. The experience must be full time in the candidate’s subject area.

  14. Cost for a CA Credential • The 32 credit program is $610 per credit = $19,520 • The TPAs have a $500 fee for scoring • Other fees include CBEST, CSET, and RICA (for multiple subjects only), Fingerprint Clearance; TB Clearance, CPR, and US Constitution test. • Stafford Loans available to US Citizens

  15. Adding the MA Degree • Candidates may also enroll in the MA in Education degree and take courses held in Korea. • 22 more credits or seven courses will complete the MA in Ed degree

  16. August 24-25 • August 24, 5:00-6:00 Orientation • ED 5000 Technology in the Classroom, Saturday August 25, 9:00-12:00 on ooVoo (like Skype)
