  4. What was Russia like before the Revolution of 1917? • Before the Russian Revolution, Russia was ruled by an absolute monarch. His name was Czar Nicholas II. He was seen as Gods representative on earth. Only about 10% of people in Russian were actually Russian, which was a big problem. The rest of the people that were in Russia were all treated horribly. The worst of all was the Jews. They needed special permits, special clothes, and only lived in certain places. It was horrible. There was a huge gap between the rich and the poor. The Nobles were very wealthy and owned huge farms. The serfs and peasants did the work for them. Russia was far behind on the new technologies and inventions that were created. They were falling apart.

  10. What is Communism? Communism is an economic system in which land, factories, and other means of producing goods are privately owned and controlled by an individual or groups of individuals for a profit. Communism worked by removing all social classes. Some advantages of Communism were that all the people would be treated the same, and everyone would be created equal. Some disadvantages were that for the people who worked so much harder than others, they would still end up getting the same outcome as everyone else; same exact pay.
