  4. What do these terms mean? • Indecipherability: not understandable; incomprehensible. • Archaic: words or phrases that are not used as much as they used to be • Archaic Language: a language that is no longer used or not used as much

  5. Why are Archaic Languages Usually Indercipherable? • Some of these languages are so old that they have become almost indecipherable • Also, through language changes (Old--Middle--Modern) • In some cases, these languages are still studied, but they are not spoken on a regular basis
