  2. What Is Responsible Drinking? • The BAC for a DUI is 0.08 • After 3 servings of alcohol in 1 hour on an empty stomach, a 150-lb man would have a BAC of approximately 0.08 0.5 oz pure alcohol = = = 12 oz Beer 5 oz Wine 1.25 oz Spirits

  3. What Is Responsible Drinking? • It takes a healthy liver 1 hour to process the alcohol of one serving • Drinking multiple servings over several hours compounds the time to process alcohol • Absorption rate factors • Age • Size • Gender • Strength of Drink • Rate of Consumption • Food

What Is Irresponsible Drinking? • BAC = 0.266 for drunk driver in Verni case • Antonia Verni left a quadriplegic • Daniel Lanzaro found guilty, served 5 years • BAC = 0.19 for drunk driver in Adenhart case • Nick Adenhart and two others killed, driver has severe injuries • Andrew Thomas Gallo has pled not guilty • BAC = 0.16 for drunk driver in Mazer case • Barry Mazer and his 2-year-old daughter were killed • David Whiting sentenced to 35 years

What Can You Do To Promote Responsible Drinking? • Be Proactive to Anticipate Problems • Engage ALL Organizations and Employees • Open dialogue with concessionaire • Sharing responsibility • Document Efforts – • External: Signage for Policies • Internal: Tracking System for Incidents and Modifications • Maintain Focus – not a one-time fix

Reasonable Efforts • Training ALL facility employees in effective alcohol management • Defining, communicating, and enforcing Code of Conduct and alcohol service policies • Documentation of violations • Roving alcohol enforcement teams • Strengthen relationship with liquor control agencies • Tools for guests to support your efforts

  7. Training In addition to this training session, you will be reminded of our alcohol service policies at each event you work. Your supervisor will review the stadium’s policies and state laws regarding alcohol sales and service. You will then be asked to sign off on the policies – acknowledging that you completely understand and agree to abide by all rules and regulations. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you should speak with a Stadium Food & Beverage manager or supervisor.

  11. Pictures of signage Besides posted signs, announcements may be heard and policies viewed on the video boards periodically throughout the game.

  12. Documentation If an alcohol related incident occurs, an incident form should be completed with as much factual detail as possible and turned into your supervisor at the end of the event. Documentation helps us by: Providing information about steps taken during an incident Protecting the facility and employees from untrue claims Enabling us to track trends and implement policy and training changes, if necessary Incident forms are stocked in each location.

Key Questions • ID checking – who is responsible? • What to do when… • Underage fans are observed purchasing alcohol or drinking? • A fan is observed with more than 2 alcohol servings? • A fan shows warning signs of impairment entering the facility? • A fan shows warning signs of impairment inside the stadium? • When do you cut-off consumption but still allow fan to remain in stadium? • What incidents are considered worthy of documentation? • Do you track the positive alcohol management efforts?
