  6. Friday  23 November Takeover Day gives children and young people the chance to work with adults for the day and be involved in decision-making. Children benefit from the opportunity to experience the world of work and make their voices heard, while adults and organisations gain a fresh perspective on what they do. Join BYC for Debates at Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat Party Conferences These debates will provide exciting opportunities for young people to engage with politicians and question them about their policies The debates taking place Sunday 23 Sept, 5-8pm: Liberal Democrats, Brighton http://byclibdemconf.eventbrite.com/ Sunday 30 Sept, 5-8pm: Labour, Manchester http://byclabourconf.eventbrite.com Sunday 7 Oct, 5-8pm: Conservative, Birmingham http://bycconsconf.eventbrite.com/ These events are free to attend, public events. Refreshments will be provided at the reception before the debate. The reception will provide opportunities for networking and meeting politicians and other young people. Spaces are limited, so register now to attend using the links above.

  11. Are You a Budding Filmmaker or Designer? Win Houses of Parliament visits and more in the Political Studies Association’s student poster and video competition The Political Studies Association is looking for students to submit short films with the title ‘ What is the media doing to our politics’? and posters illustrating the issue of ‘Why society needs politics’. The winning entries will receive trips to London and a tour of the Houses of Parliament, with the video competition winner picking up their prize at the PSA’s annual awards dinner, broadcast on BBC Parliament. You can nominate a sibling, carer, fundraiser, or just a great mate – anyone aged between 12-17 in the UK who has done something truly out of the ordinary or selfless If you’ve got someone in mind get in touch with Radio 1 and they could be collecting their award in front of thousands of people at the Teen Awards!
