  1. SUNDAY JUNE 23rd 2013

  2. Whatever we do flows from our heart • Whatever we do flows from our heart • Proverbs 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. • 1 Sam 16:7 God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart • Matthew 23:26 First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean. • Luke 6:43-45 “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart.

  3. The heart is the core of our lives • It behaves like ‘auto pilot’ of our lives. • Sometimes we can do something contrary to our belief but this is temporary • Proverbs 20:5 A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water, But a man of understanding draws it out. • David asks for God’s help to understand his heart. • Psalm 139:23 Search me, O God, and know my heart

  4. The heart is being formed • Who we are today is the result of heart formation since we were born. • How parents teach us when we were small, • teachers, • friends, • media (I think this becomes one of the biggest influence). • Everyone is going through transformation no matter how old they are. • The question is are we changing to be a good or bad one.

  5. Heart formation – How to shape it • Experience • Knowledge • Vision, Intention, Means • Vision: In the vision we try to see what we will have or become and its benefit. The stronger and clearer the vision, the better it will succeed • Without vision my people perish. • If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.

  6. Vision Intention Means • This vision of the kingdom of God is the place we must start. • Jesus came announcing, manifesting, and teaching the availability and nature of the kingdom of the heavens. • Luke 4: 43 But He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, for I was sent for this purpose.” • Kingdom of God is where God’s way of life, culture, rules, law, will, what are the things that are really matter and important. • John 4:14, Mat 7: 24-25, Romans 14:17, John 10:10

  7. Vision Intention Means • The vision of kingdom of God is the transformation into Christlikeness • 2 Cor 3:18 So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. • This is the vision of life NOW and FOREVER through a birth “from above” and participating by our actions in what God is doing now in our lifetime on earth. Thus, “whatever we do, speaking or acting, doing all on behalf of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father” (Colossians 3:17).

  8. Vision Intention Means • Unfortunately a lot of visions end up in someone’s drawer or on the wall without becomes reality. • We must intend the vision to be realized. This involves making decision and readiness to act. • Intention to live in the kingdom of God means • Trust him, rely on him, to count on him being the Truth, Way and Life. • Making decision and readiness to obey Jesus. • Gandhi: if only Christians would live according to their belief in the teachings of Jesus, “we all would become Christians.” • Faith without action is death. James 2 :19-20 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder. You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless.

  9. Vision Intention Means • The Vision and solid Intention to obey Christ will naturally lead to seeking out and applying the means to achieve them. • Grow in our faith: quiet time, study the Bible, memorize verse, fasting • Self control and freedom: fasting • Love, compassion: charity, helping others, mission
