Gold! Gold! Gold!!! • There was a lot of GOLD in California. Gold was the thing that made people rich. Many people searched for gold in California. It wasn’t easy though and not many people actually found their fortune. A disease named cholera killed many on the way to find gold.
Iron pyrite This is iron pyrite. Many people were fooled by iron pyrite and didn’t get what they wanted.
Tools for mining • Some tools they used for mining were pick axes. There was lots of work before they got to the mother lode.
The vein of gold • This is the vein of gold . • The miners dug and dug until they got to the vein of gold.
Panama short cut This is the panama short cut. Some took the route around South America and others went under North America.
Quarts Quarts were one of the common things during the gold rush and they still are today.
Manskip • Miners used mine carts to get in the mines. Some were successful and most weren’t. Many died in the mines and some didn’t.
Gold rush sea route This is the sea route that some people took. Some died of sea sickness and some didn’t.
