  1. Automotive Service Technology Shop Rules

  2. Shop Rule #1 No running, horse-playing or any activity that compromises shop safety.

  3. Shop Rule #2 Beware of your surroundings at ALL TIMES!

  4. Shop Rule #3 Wear Safety Goggles during any operation that may endanger your eyes. Other safety equipment such as masks, face shields, thick gloves, etc., are also available for use during specific tasks.

  5. Shop Rule #4 Remove all jewelry from fingers, hands and wrists. Tuckin long hair, ID badges and necklaces so it will not get caught in any piece of equipment. Also no open-toe footwear.

  6. Shop Rule #5 Mop or place oil-dry (kitty litter) on any spills immediately, pick-up any trash from equipment and floors. A clean shop = A safe shop, a safe shop is EVERYONE’S responsibility – no excuses.

  7. Shop Rule #6 In case of an emergency REPORT IT to the Instructor immediately; accidents/emergencies happen. Do not be afraid to approach the Instructor for assistance.

  8. Shop Rule #7 Do not operate any tool or equipment you’re not familiar with. Each tool and equipment operates differently and serves a different purpose which you will be trained on throughout your School year.

  9. Shop Rule #8 Do not get into vehicles unless there are repairs in which you are required to be inside the vehicle or unless you are instructed to do so by the Instructor. Donotplace yourself in a situation where you may become liable for broken or missing property.

  10. Shop Rule #9 Supplies are not cheap! Use them properly – do not waste them! Safety goggles and soap are available at all times. Latex gloves may or maynot be available throughout the school year.

  11. Shop Rule #10 Shop activities are just as important as classroom activities, it will re-enforce what you have learned in the classroom. If you are absent and provided an admit slip, you will be re-assigned a ”X” for the days missed – shop activities cannot be made up.

  12. Make sure that you have… • Written all class rules and shop rules • Understood those rules • Addressed any questions or concerns regarding those rules to Instructor
