Association of Structural Pest Control Regulatory Officials • State/tribal/territorial structural pesticide regulatory officials • Focus on regulatory issues related to pest management of pests in structural and urban environments • Participation: state officials, researchers, extension, industry and other groups

  3. Goal …to protect the health and welfare of the citizens of each state through the fair and effective regulation of the pest control industry which is vital in the control of pests of public health and economic significance…

SELECT committee NEws Pest Management in Schools Structural Fumigation Monitor US EPA’s re-evaluation of the non-soil fumigants Hosted a workshop with NPMA, and in collaboration with Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, for EPA Staff regarding structural fumigation (April 2017) • Welcome New Chair –Seth Dunlap, Agri Program Manager, Commercial Pest Control, Arkansas State Plant Board • Develop Fact Sheet for Antimicrobial Use in Schools • Distributed to State Lead Agencies; Departments of Education; the National School Plant Managers Association (or state affiliates) and other appropriate groups • Engage EPA

SELECT committee NEws PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE (Former Bed Bug Committee) • Formed in late 2009 • Select activities included: • Survey of states/tribes/territories • Label language review of bed bug products • Participation on NPMA’s Blue Ribbon Bed Bug Task Force - Developed Best Management Practices • Provided comments on EPA’s • “Draft Product Performance Test Guidelines OCSPP 810.3900: Laboratory Testing Methods for Bed Bug Pesticide Products” • “Product Performance Data Needs for Pesticide Products Claiming Efficacy against Invertebrate Pests of Significant Public Health or Economic Importance”. • Working with NPMA, hosted training for EPA Staff focusing on bed bug infestations and treatment options including inspections of infested, occupied units and the challenges in effective treatment • Website with resources

SELECT committee NEws PUBLIC HEALTH COMMITTEE (Former Bed Bug Committee) • Considered a pest of public health significance, informal discussions began regarding other pests • In 2016, with the concerns related to Zika Virus and Vector Control, ASPCRO put together an ad hoc work group • Impetus for the transition of the Bed Bug Committee to the Public Health Committee • “New” committee became official at 2017 Mid-year Board of Directors Meeting • Added two new members with expertise and interest in public health and maintained current membership as well • Transitioning to new leadership within the Committee • Immediate activities • Revisions to committee mission • Defining/refining future activities
