Where to go in the Morning • All students should report to the commons area (cafeteria) in the morning to eat breakfast in the designated area for their grade level. • 7th grade students will remain in the commons area after eating breakfast and remain until the bell rings at 8:20 for them to report to 1st period.
School Start/End Time • 1st bell 8:20 – Students go to lockers to put items away for the day and retrieve school items they may need for the day. • School Day: 8:30 – 4:00
Tardiness If you arrive after 8:30 you are TARDY and must check in in the front office.
Tardy Policy 1st Tardy = “free” No consequence 2nd Tardy = Lunch Cleanup – 1 day 3rd Tardy = Lunch Cleanup – 1 week 4th Tardy = Timeout + Parent notification 5th Tardy = ISS – 1 day 6th Tardy = ISS – 1 day 7th Tardy = ISS – 3 days 8th Tardy = ISS – 5 days + parent Conference 9th Tardy = Contact School Social Worker + ISS determined by administrator 10th Tardy = Same as 9th offense * Tardies start over at the beginning of each semester.
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag • We open school each morning by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. Each student will recite the pledge except those students who are excused for religious beliefs.
Early Dismissal • Permission must be obtained through the front office • If you know in advance bring a note and turn it into the office first thing in the morning • Include a phone number where parent can be reached • Parent signature is required
End of School Day • Students riding buses, being picked up, or walking will be dismissed at 4:00. • All buses load and unload from the back of the school. • Walkers and car riders must exit through the front of the building and leave campus as quickly as possible. • ANY car rider still on campus after 4:20 will be brought back into building and parents must come in to retrieve them. If this is a continual problem a social worker will be notified. • Walkers must cross streets only at intersections.
Car Riders • All car riders must be dropped off and picked up in the FRONT of the school. • Parents that do not follow this procedure will be reported to the Sheriff’s Office. • This is a safety issue and there will be no tolerance.
Compulsory Attendance • It is the law… students must attend school.
Compulsory Attendance • Parents and students that violate this law will be contacted by the social worker and The Department of Children and Family Services. • If attendance continues to be a problem, the family will be taken before the attendance task force and prosecuted.
Care of School Property • Students MARKING or DAMAGING school property in any way will be required to clean the article or pay for damages. • The law specifically provides that parents and students are responsible for materials loaned to the student.
Lockers and Book bags • Lockers should only be used for your belongings. • Never share a locker! • Never give your combination to another student! • Book bags should be stored in lockers • Lockers are a privilege • Students that abuse their locker or time going to their locker could lose their locker!
Rest Rooms • Help keep them clean. • Students caught vandalizing bathrooms will have to clean it up and will receive after school detention, ISS, or OSS. • If permanent damages occur, parents will be charged the expense of replacing items. • The Principal may press charges depending on the damage done.
Cell Phones and Other Electronic Devices • Cell Phones and other electronic devices (iPods, mP3 players, psp games, game boys, etc.) have increasingly become a problem during the school day. Therefore guidelines have been established.

Dress Code • Wear appropriate footwear • No holes, slits, or frayed areas on clothing • Skirts, shorts, skorts, and dresses should be finger length • NO halter tops, shirts or dresses with spaghetti straps. In addition tops that expose cleavage or midriffs, strapless dresses or see through clothing are not appropriate. • Shirts longer than your wrists must be tucked in • No “busting slack” • No over-sized or form fitting clothing • Leggings are ok with a dress or top that comes to or below the finger tip • Clothing can only be worn in the manner that it was intended.
Dress Code Continued • Obscene or suggestive slogans or shirts with pictures or patches displaying illegal substances for minors will not be allowed. • Clothing which displays profane, vulgar, obscene or racially offensive language, symbols or sexual innuendo will not be allowed. • Students should not wear clothing that displays anything where the effect is to cause disruption or interference with the operation of the school. • No hats, sunglasses, caps visors, etc… • Large coats and hoods should not be worn at school. (Keep hoods off your head when in the building) • No chains on clothing or wallets. • Students shall not display or wear any gang article, paraphernalia or clothing that can be constructed as being gang-related. • No jewelry that is offensive or stubbed or pointed • No visible piercings other than ears. Chains linking piercings are not allowed.
Fire Drill • Discuss appropriate exit routes. (Use map as reference) • Students remain quiet and orderly during the drill.
Tornado Drill • Discuss assigned areas for students. (Refer to map) • At the sound of the signal, take cover. • Students remain quiet and orderly during the drill.
Lock Down Drill • Discuss each level and appropriate actions for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. • Students remain extremely quiet and orderly during the drill.
Homework Policy • Homework is an essential part of the learning process. • All academic teachers will assign homework on a regular basis. • Students will write their homework down in their agenda. • Homework can be accessed through the internet on the school website.
Grading Scale Grading Percentages: • Daily Work = 30% • Midterm/ Finals = 20 % • Tests = 50%
Student Work Habits • Immediately upon entering the room all students will take their seat. • Come to class with all required materials. • If your pencil needs sharpened do it before class starts. • Students should not talk any time during class unless permission has been granted. • The student should give his or her attention to the teacher until instruction is finished, even if the bell signaling the end of class has rung. • Tardy students should enter quietly. • Cheating will result in a zero for that assignment. • All students will be expected to cooperate with staff members at all times.
