  2. Recommended Student Traveler Characteristics/Dispositions • Comfort with independent learning • Shows excellent initiative • Able to meet strict due dates for assignments • Respects self and others • Trustworthy • Considerate

  3. Required materials • Notebook • Pens and/or pencils • Camera/or phone • Tablet or Laptop • Weather-appropriate clothing and sensible footwear • Spending money (lunches, beverages, gifts, etc.)

  4. Assessment • Term work: 70% • Culminating task: 30% • No exam for either course • Students will complete and submit work before travelling • Students participate in travel activities and learning • Students will complete their culminating task during and just after the travel portion of the course

  5. Civics and Careers in Canada and the U.S. Potential dates: July 18 - 24, 2020 7 days

  6. Students engage in an online platform for the Summer Semester for the month of July – work is completed prior to, during and immediately following the trip - July 2nd – 29th (exact dates to be confirmed closer to summer semester)

  7. Students receive 0.5 Civics and 0.5 Careers Credits, this means approx. 3 hours of work per weekday before the trip, work completion during the trip and creation of a culminating activity after the trip. Students must attend 2 days of face to face classes prior to travel. Dates to be communicated and determined closer to summer semester.

  8. Potential Dates: March 6th – 23rd 1 credit

  9. Students receive a 1.0 Cooperative Education credit. Students complete preplacement, placement and a final reflective activity. They meet face to face during the PA day in January and complete preplacement using myBlueprint before travelling to Taiwan. Students attend placement and reflect upon there learning face to face with the teacher each day on site. Students then complete the final reflective activity to consolidate their learning with respect to the placement and the culture. All work is due by May 1st.

  14. LKDSB organizes the travel, collects the payments and supervises the students and excursions. Travel insurance is provided by the school board’s travel company Foresight supports us finding placements, supporting student safety and entertainment on the trip.
