  3. Why This? • I picked this career because I really love animals, science is my favorite subject and I have always wanted to work with them.

  4. Opening Career Statement • What vets do is treat sick and injured animals. • Help to maintain a steady food supply for the wild life. • Try to prevent the spread of foreign diseases from animals to humans.

  6. “Me Now” • I help my mother with her day care. • I help my grandmother clean her house.

  7. Salary • Starting salary is about $54,500 per year. ($26.25 per hour) • Average salary is $82,000 per year. ($39.50 per hour) • With experience $103,500 per year. ($49.75)

  9. Education/ Training • Must graduate from a 4 year program at an accredited college. • Must have credit hours ranging from 45 to 60 semester hours.

  14. Job Description • What vets do is help to ensure the food supply of animals. • Diagnose sick and injured animals, any animal such as tigers, cats, birds, dogs… • Enforce animal welfare and protecting against foreign animal diseases.

  15. Working Conditions • They may work out doors in farms or ranches. • May be exposed to infections or diseases. • Have to constantly read to keep up with new developments in the field.
