The Kite Runner Research Activity • Directions: • 1. Get into a group of approximately 5 people • 2. Each person in your group must read and annotate his or her own copy of the article you are given. Remember, annotation means to show evidence of a close reading- add questions and comments to the article itself. • 3. As a group, do the following tasks on one sheet of paper for the group: • A. Summarize the article (5-7 sentence paragraph) • B. Describe the author’s provable claim, or thesis, in 2-3 sentences • C. Predict: How might this article influence the novel? 4. Using your phones, you group will conduct extra research on the topics presented in your article. Based on what you learn, write at least 5 bulletpoints of additional information on your group’s sheet of paper.
