What is the Peer Volunteer Program? • A confidential way for employees to speak to trusted co-workers about entering into treatment for drug or alcohol abuse • Available to all PG&E employees and their dependents • Collaborative effort between PG&E, IBEW Local 1245, and ESC Local 20 which began in 2002 Dave Moore Sr. Electric Estimator www.peervolunteers.org

Who are the Peer Volunteers? • We have over 40 Peers throughout our service area who are PG&E employees who are either in long-term recovery or have a loved one who is. • They volunteer to assist employees and their family members into recovery. • They have been trained by the Employee Assistance Program and have access to mental health professionals if needed.   6. What do the Peer Volunteers do? • Peer Volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. • They provide confidential assistance to PG&E employees and their family members. Debbie Rose-Calilan Managers Assistant www.peervolunteers.org

  7. What do the Peer Volunteers do? • Provide resources about substance abuse and treatment • Provide referrals to 12 step programs • Accompanyemployee/family member to assist in getting admitted to treatment facilities Gale Sikes Workers’ Compensation Rep. www.peervolunteers.org

  8. What do the Peer Volunteers do? • Work with family members and help them understand how the recovery process works • Connect with those recently returned to work from treatment Ott Reid Restoration Supervisor www.peervolunteers.org

  9. Program Impact • In 2013: • The Peers educated over 1,500 employees on the program. • More than 400 employees have reached out to the Peers for help. • The Peers assisted 5 employees into inpatient/outpatient treatment. Steve Miramontes Safety Program Consultant www.peervolunteers.org
