This guide explores fundamental rules for writing dialogue in graphic novels, emphasizing practices seen in works like "Persepolis." Key points include the absence of quotation marks around dialogue, the positioning of dialogue balloons near the corresponding character, and the reading order of these balloons from left to right and top to bottom. Additionally, narration should be placed above the panels, distinctly separated from dialogue. Use this framework to analyze graphic novels and enhance your storytelling through effective dialogue formatting.
