  4. HOW WE TEACH • Focus on problem solving not on a language • Teach in modules • Modules time frame fluid to match the needs of your students. • Modules can be added, deleted or modified based upon the students’ needs. First Bytes 2009

ENROLLMENT UP—WHY? • Something for everyone—Alice vs Java vs Scratch vs Python • Projects are not language driven—they are problem driven—use the language of students’ choice • Instructors actively promote/recruit new students • Electives fair each February show current students work to incoming students (see next 2 slides for the flyer we distribute) • “Word of Mouth” - Current students promote the class to their classmates First Bytes 2009
