  2. What will we learn? • What is the water cycle? • Why is it important? • How does water move around our world? • What can we do to protect earth’s water?

  3. What is the water cycle? • Water on earth moves between the oceans and land through the process of evaporation and condensation.

  4. How does water move around our world? • Water evaporates from land and ocean sources, condenses, and then falls back to earth in the form of rainfall, hail, sleet, or snow. • Water that falls over the land either returns to the air through evaporation and plant transpiration, or flows back to the sea. • This process repeats itself ceaselessly.

  5. Why is this important? • There can be no life without water. • The majority of water on earth is salt water found in earth’s oceans. • The amount of fresh water located in rivers, lakes, underground sources, and glaciers is limited.

  6. What can we do to protect earth’s water? • Try to limit the amount of water you use. • Don’t put chemicals and other pollutants down your drains or gutters. • Click here to learn more!
