The STD Wizard
The STD Wizard is a free, online tool designed to reduce undiagnosed STDs through an evidence-based risk assessment. It helps individuals identify the appropriate tests by asking private questions in a comfortable manner, enhancing awareness of STD risks. Tailored primarily for young people, it can be utilized by all age groups. Supported by a CDC/APTR grant and compliant with CDC guidelines, the STD Wizard ensures user privacy by not tracking personal information and offers a user-friendly experience, with 88% of users rating it easy to use.

Purpose of STD Wizard • Reduce the number of undiagnosed STDs • Free, evidence-based STD risk assessment • Recommend correct tests to individuals
Means to the “Ends” • Decreases discomfort with private questions • Enhances awareness of STD risks • More efficient for health care provider • Ensures correct tests are ordered
Target Audience • Higher incidence of STIs in young people • So program designed with youth in mind • But any age can use the STD Wizard
STD Wizard Development • Funded by CDC / APTR Grant TS-1052 • 2010 CDC STD Treatment Guidelines • Conforms to CDC logic and questions • Displays and works well on smartphones
Evaluation of STD Wizard • 200 college students used the STD Wizard • 88% found the software “very easy to use” • 12% found the software “easy to use”
STD Wizard Usage Statistics • Normally serves about 100 users per day • Has served more than 10,000 per day! • Smartphones represent about half of usage
Protecting User Privacy • User privacy is protected • STD Wizard does not use cookies • No identifying information is stored • Reminds user to close browser at end
