FACT SHEET • 5 Partner Universities • - Tarleton State University • - The University of Texas at Arlington • - The University of Texas at Brownsville • - The University of Texas at Medical Branch at Galveston • - Midwestern State University • 28 degree programs • 18 undergraduate, 10 graduate • Approximately 700 students • - ¾ of classes at night and on weekends • - online sections have increased (16 sections for spring 09)

General Benefits of the University Center for MCC • Students take more core curriculum courses • *Increase in enrollment = increase in college revenue • Students buy more books at the MCC bookstore • Students buy more food at the Highlander cafe • MCC employees have opportunities to obtain higher education goals

  6. Benefits to the local Workforce • Employers provide tuition reimbursement • Employees save time by traveling less to take courses toward degree • Employees are less likely to move away to pursue degree elsewhere

Impact on the MCC campus • Partner institutions use classrooms (and more parking) • Increase in student visits to career services, student records, • MAC card office, and library • Instruction provided by MCC instructors, Baylor administrators, • Baylor graduate students, and local community members • MCC provides salaries for three employees • MCC employees serve as advisors for bachelor degree programs

Growth of University Center Partners • 4 full time Tarleton State University employees on campus • Have requested administrative support • Currently have a work study and graduate assistant on campus • UTA in process of hiring full time employee • Tarleton State University offers new student orientation, • new faculty orientation, and graduation planning event • Bookstore has to order books for approximately 700 additional students

  12. 2008 Survey Information (178 students polled) • 43% of students interested in pursuing Bachelor’s degree • 31% of students interested in pursuing Associate’s degree • Child Studies (14%), General Studies (11%), and Management (11%) • were most popular degree options • Nursing (16%), Social Work (14%), and Criminal Justice (10%) were • commonly requested Master degree options • 35% of students requested more degree options • and “better parking”
