  4. Republic Of Yemen. • Official Name: Republic of Yemen. • Location: Yemen is bounded in the north by Saudi Arabia east by Oman, south by the Gulf of Aden and west by the Red Sea. The territory includes 112 islands including Kamaran (181 sq. km) and Perim (300 sq. km) in the Red Sea and Socotra (3,500 sq. km) in the Gulf of Aden. • Capital: Sana'a is Yemen's capital and largest city.Language: Arabic is the official language of the country, with English being the most widely used second language. • Area: The area of the Republic of Yemen exceeds 555,000 km. excluding the Empty Quarter • Population: The total population of Yemen is 20,676,000 (2005 census) • Membership: Yemen is a member of the UN and Arab League and Organization of the Islamic Conference. • Currency: The unit of currency is the riyal (YER) of 100 fils. • Yemen Time Difference: GMT + 3 • Climate During summer, the temperature and humidity are high in the coastal areas, while the climate is moderate during winter. From time to time rain fall, due to the monsoon, moderates the temperature over the coastal areas in summer. In the mountain areas, the weather is moderate in summer and cold in winter
