  3. What are the qualities of a good leader? • In groups, decide what sorts of people leaders tend to be. What qualities do they display which gives them the authority they need?

  4. The Qualities • Integrity: a trust magnet • Enthusiasm • Warmth: a ‘people’ person • Calmness: how many leaders panic in public • Demanding yet fair…..

Leadership Achievements Consider and discuss the following, and add to the list if you need to: • Clear, shared purpose/goals • Clear, shared communication • Being trusted and supported • Conflict resolution • Openness • Letting the team know how well they are doing • Toughness in the face of problems • Fun

  7. Leading the team • Styles of leadership • Guide and support (making people feel happy and directing them how to do the task) • Motivate and encourage (providing motivation and encouragement) • Maintain and develop (let them get on with the show) • Direct and clarify (tell them what to do)
