Introductory Concept Force is a push or a pull on an object. It occurs when two or more objects come in contact with each other. Force can cause things to move. It can also change the shape, size, or movement of an object. The shape and size of an object may change when force is applied on it. Some ways of changing the shape and size of an object are pushing, pounding, compressing, bending, twisting, stretching or squeezing, cutting, grinding and sharpening. The movement of an object changes when you push or pull it. The amount of force exerted greatly affects its movement.
