  1. Ron Williamson Adult Health and Community Services Warwickshire County Council Consultation onCharging for Community Care Services

  2. Principles and Issues • Affects community care for adults and not residential care • The Council needs to make 25% savings over 4 years and can no longer afford to subsidise charges • Those who can afford to do so, will have to pay the full cost but means testing remains and those with low incomes pay nothing

  3. Who Will Be Affected? These proposals will affect people who receive: • home care, • day care, • transport • respite care in a care home • and all direct payments. Other services are NOT affected such as: residential care, equipment and adaptations to your home, telecare, reablement and carer sitting services.

  4. What Will This Mean if You Currently Pay the Full Charge? * This is the charge for respite in a residential establishment. The current charge is in addition to any charges for community care. Future charges will be stand alone

  5. What Do You Think About? • The removal of the subsidy from within charges ? • The timescales for increasing charges? • The removal of the maximum of £387.13/week ? • The reduction of the low income threshold from Income Support +40% to IS +25% ? • What do you think Adult Social Care/the Council can do if they don’t make these changes? • Not a question – but with this charges will be only for service received in the future
