  4. How efficient are they? As you can see by the chart since the 1980s the price of energy has gone down and with the instillation of PV cells it would continue to decrease.   6. The next big thing? Photovoltaic cells, unlike and fossil fuel energy emits no harmful byproducts. The only problem is there location, if they are located where photosynthesizing plants they would just be a replacement to one renewable resource (biomass), but if there located on fences, roofs or other places where plants are not found then they would just be another renewable energy resource
