  1. Cultural Diversity L/O: Know the cultural diversity of individuals in society. By the end of this lesson: All the class will be able to identify three cultural differences that create diversity in society (Pass) Most of the class will be able to explain three cultural differences, with examples, that create diversity in society (Merit) Some of the class will be able to analyse and justify, three cultural differences that create diversity in society (Distinction)

  2. Cultural Diversity • Last lesson we looked and Diversity and our values. Today we are looking at Cultural Diversity • Starter: • You have 5 minutes to complete the laminated stick figure and identify what makes you an individual

  3. Cultural Diversity • Task: Key Terminology sheet • Students to match key terms to the correct definition • Students to swap sheets and peer assess/mark each others work • Students to calculate % of correct answers

  4. Cultural Diversity • What do we mean by this? • The way we interact with each other depends on our particular culture. • Can anyone think of any examples?

  5. Cultural Diversity • A set of beliefs shared by a particular group of people, for example: • Language • Styles of dress • Ways of cooking • Religion • Ways of behaving

  6. Cultural Diversity.Task: In groups of 3 you have 10 mins to write down on your sheet how these two people are culturally different.Prepare to feedback to the rest of the class. AFL – check that you have used -- Language Styles of dress at least 3 of these phrases Ways of cooking Religion Ways of behaving

  7. Cultural Diversity • Task: • Students to swap worksheet and peer assess other students work • Students to write on the worksheet two areas the group has done well and one area they need to improve on

  8. Cultural Diversity • Plenary: • Q and A session on cultural differences
