(P) SOME - To develop wider knowledge of a UK Tourism resource. (M) LIT – To be able to spell the 3 different types of tourist

  4. Types of Tourist – Leisure, Business & Visiting friends and relatives (VFR) (5 mins) Task: What kind of tourist are they? Leisure, Business or Visiting friends and relative (VFR). Note that some examples might fit into more than one category. Work in pairs to discuss your answers to this task.

  5. UK Attractions (15 mins) Task: Use the local tourist Information Centre (TIC) and the Visit Britain website (www.visitbritain.com) to help you complete the table above. The table can be found here: R:\Business Studies\BTEC L3\Travel & Tourism

  6. Visit Britain – (15 mins) You will use Visit Britain website (www.VisitBritain.co.uk.) a lot during your studies as it is an invaluable tourism resource. Use it now to find out: • What are the objectives of VisitBritain? • Who funds VisitBritain? • What are the National Tourist Boards? • What are the Regional Development Agencies (RDA’s) • Where are VisitBritain’s overseas offices?
