  4. Talk about the numbers… The U.S. is home to 4% of the world's population, yet consumes 26% of the world's energy.

  5. Worldwide Increase in Demand for Fossil Fuels • World population growing • Development of India, China and other Countries

  6. Fossil Fuels • 85% of all the US energy • 2/3 electricity • Nearly 100% transportation fuels

  7. Natural gas, 23% of The United States energy usage. Coal is used to produce almost 60% of our nations electrical power, and accounts for 22% of our overall energy consumption.

  8. When will it run out? • It is currently getting scarcer, and as a result more expensive, but current estimates suggest we will not actually run out until between 2025 and 2070.
