  2. Who is Malala? Malala is… • 18 years old • From Pakistan At a young age Malala became an advocate for girls’ education. Her actions provoked the Taliban to issue death threats, and they shot her on her way home from school. She survived the shooting and has created the Malala Fund to help girls around the world get a quality education.

  4. The Benefits of Educating Girls • Improvement of economic productivity and growth • Reduction of child and maternal mortality • Improvement of child nutrition and health • Lower birth rates

  5. What does this have to do with WACO? In the U.S. boys and girls have the protected right to an education. Our involvement helps girls across the world obtain an education. We can start bettering our world by educating the people in it.

  6. Lock-In! • $5 admission includes cookies, popcorn, and activities! • May 6th, 2016 from 7:30-11p.m. • Drinks are available to purchase • You can win prizes and awards! 7:30- 11pm

  8. Challenge: Help us meet our goal of 100 students at the Lock-In! Why: Malala’s Fund is important & worth supporting! We love an excuse to hang out with friends! Meeting our goal earns an afternoon of fun out of the classroom! What you can do: Save the date & invite your friends! Friends from other high schools are welcome to attend with you. Get their registration form in the cafeteria.
