This project aims to learn the basics of Adobe Illustrator while studying the Bowen's Reaction Series in geology. By utilizing various Adobe programs, including Illustrator and Photoshop, I created a visually appealing poster that effectively conveys geological concepts. My methods involved selecting colors, adjusting fonts, and employing design tools for an informative and attractive presentation. Special thanks to my instructor Dianne Phillips and colleague Dan Adams for their support in this independent study.

INTRODUCTION • Purpose: to learn a new program while learning a General Geology concept. • I was assigned the Bowen’s Reaction Series and decided to use the Adobe Illustrator program.
METHODS AND TECHNOLOGY USED • Internet • Adobe Illustrator - program used for the poster • Adobe Photoshop • program used to crop photos to place into Illustrator
ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR Select color and fonts Color gradient Reflection Pen tool Copy and re-size arrows
ADOBE PHOTOSHOP Selection tool Magnetic lasso-outlines and produces and easier way to select an object. Picks up contrast colors Put the picture in a new Photoshop file, save and place into Illustrator. This makes the background transparent so that the object blends with the background of the poster.
