  2. Alcohol • What affect does alcohol have on the human body? • The small intestine and the stomach absorb most of the alcohol after drinking. A small amount leaves the body through breath and urine. Eating food, especially fatty food, slows the absorption of alcohol. If people drink more alcohol than their bodies can absorb, they become drunk. • Does Alcohol affect a pregnant women and if so why? • Yes, It does affect a foetus and it is very unhealthy to drink while a women is pregnant. Sometimes drinking alcohol while being pregnant can cause your foetus to have syndromes, it also could limit various things that you need to provide the baby when its born such as breastfeeding. • How does the alcohol affect the liver? • Oxidative stress. When our liver tries to break down alcohol, the resulting chemical reaction can damage its cells. This damage can lead to inflammation and scarring as the liver tries to repair itself. • Toxins in gut bacteria. Alcohol can damage our intestine which lets toxins from our gut bacteria get into the liver. These toxins can also lead to inflammation and scarring.

  3. Smoking • How does smoking affect the human body? • Smoking affects many parts of the body such as lungs due to lack of tar build up in the lungs which block the air sacks. Our air sacks help us breathe and when tar blocks the air sack, it becomes harder for gas exchange to occur. • Smoking Cigarette is very bad for you. Cigarette contains drugs: tar, nicotine and tobacco. It contains over 600 ingredients most of which are harmful chemicals.
