Nearly a quarter of 16 to 34 year olds were smokers compared to 11% of those aged 60 and over. •There were 1.7 million admissions for conditions that could be caused by smoking in 2014/15. An average of 4.7 thousand admissions per day. •There were 78,000 deaths in 2014 which were estimated to be attributed to smoking.
