This methodology framework includes market & nonmarket data estimates for housing values in Idyllwild and surrounding areas, recreation activities such as hiking and biking, travel cost assessments for the San Jacinto Wilderness, water resources valuation for catchment areas including Lake Hemet. It also covers the economic data layer for the San Jacinto Ranger District, with a focus on fire occurrence probabilities, costs, and benefits analysis. The system is designed for use by federal land agencies, offering decision support tools for assessing economic risks related to wildfires. Modifications to the FARSITE code for improved accuracy and interpretation are discussed.

This methodology is a framework Need to Fix various FARSITE problems (‘freezing’, crashing, etc.) We want to turn gridded weather input back on in FARSITE Choosing more realistic random locations and times may help Better suppression rules & resources Unexpected results (e.g. treatments increasing area burned and/or loss) should be investigated We have to be careful interpreting the results Some Concluding Remarks
WFDSSWildland Fire Decision Support System • fire spread probabilities USFS work in progress • Designed for use by other federal land agencies • Scaleable decision support tool for line officers • Includes modeling systems to predict and assess economic risk: FS-PRO, RAVAR • FS-PRO/RAVAR required for fire cost estimates >$10M
