This research presents an analysis of tobacco acreage in Kentucky for 2008, compared to 2004, focusing on Burley, Dark Air, and Dark-fired farms. It includes demographic insights into the age groups of Kentucky tobacco growers according to their primary type of tobacco grown, as well as labor sentiment among growers. The study also highlights the important sources of information for production decisions and provides average yield per acre data for 2008, including variable costs and H-2A labor costs, funded by TERC/NCTF.
