  1. SAKSHAM- GFATM R-7 HIV/AIDS Counselling Programme Master Trainers’ Speak (Excerpts taken from case studies in KMS-Learnings)

  2. Master TrainerUshaChelani, Rajasthan The Saksham Training of Trainers (TOT) programme had involved meeting and interacting with high-risk groups and communities which changed her perspective. “It increased my awareness about HIV and decreased my hesitation to talk about issues related to the disease”…. There has been a definite increase in my knowledge, skills and confidence level. There has also been a great improvement in my acceptance of things…. I have got a new place in society, people now know me as a Saksham master trainer.

  3. Master trainerY. S. Shekhawat, Jodhpur, Rajasthan As I come from a traditional family, I had never imagined myself talking about and working on the subject of HIV/AIDS…. The Saksham master trainers’ induction training introduced me to a different way of thinking on social issues like HIV/AIDS, gender and sexuality.…I have learnt how each participant brings some knowledge and views. I feel most information is there within the group; it just needs to be put together in such a way that it becomes holistic. So my sessions are very participative. My participants and I share a good rapport.

  4. ICTC counsellor & Master TrainerMrs. Parul Shah, Ahmedabad I remember my visit to Jharkhand where I learned what it really meant to be a master trainer… The brainstorming sessions where we could share freely, the individual presentations, highlighting key points, using PPT presentations, all this gave me lot of confidence…. The field visits, especially to Ranchi mental hospital, living away from home, learning in a group, the self improvement exercises were new and fun experiences that helped me grow personally and professionally…. I have come a long way from the shy woman who covered her face when the proper way to use a condom was demonstrated. I can now talk about STI and HIV in front of big groups and communities without feeling shy. ..

  5. ICTC Counsellor & Master trainerChandrashekharRaoNanware, Chattisgarh The training was another big surprise, as it went way beyond his expectations in terms of depth of content, the learning environment, way of treating trainees as equal partners…. Chandrashekhar finds every training session exciting as the participants come from different cultural and educational backgrounds, with varying levels of field experience and interest…. Each training session gives Chandrashekhar a fresh perspective on simplifying concepts, clarifying doubts on critical issues… “I get to learn a lot as a trainer as well as grow as a person”… As a Saksham master trainer, he draws from his experience as a counsellor, from the cases he sees during his daily routine.

  6. Master TrainerKartik Gore, Baroda Although I was conducting trainings earlier, Saksham’s trainings were very helpful, as I could learn from the experts in the field. I also gained a stronger theoretical base, better understanding of myself and more confidence as a trainer. I learned how to get participants to share their hidden views and doubts and how to deal with them professionally. Travelling all over the country as a master trainer, has been a great learning experience. I also realise that I am now contributing to the process of mainstreaming alternative sexuality.
