  3. One-Story Ranch Design • Living space on one level • Lends itself to indoor-outdoor living (patios, decks, porches) • Absence of stairs • Popular for older and handicap people • Low-pitched roofs • Wide over hangs • Needs large lot since spread out.

  6. Two-Story Designs • More economical to build • With or without basement • Smaller lot • Smaller roof • Smaller foundation • Maintenance is more costly and difficult because of height
