Recognizing the vital role of the supply chain to Canada's economy, the Council is committed to enhancing the sector's ability to attract and retain workers at all levels and across the full range of functions, and to advancing the skills of those workers." • Current Issues • Upcoming Board Meeting – The Council will be having its next Board meeting on Wednesday, October 20, at the Paramount Conference and Event Venue, in Vaughan, Ont., in conjunction with the IWLA Annual Conference. Last call to register! Contact Margie Stefanich at the Council office or at mstefanich@supplychaincanda.org for directions or dial-in information. • Recruitment and Retention Project: Train-the-Trainer Sessions – The Council’s R&R Project provides an ideal platform for dealing with succession planning within an organization (career awareness, recruiting best practice, on-boarding and retention). Workshops will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, and from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday, Oct. 21, in the GTA (for those that can attend in person), and virtually by WebEx and teleconference for those not able to travel. Please register with Margie to receive information. The Council will be offering three more Train-the-Trainer sessions in the coming months. If you are interested in working with us to offer one to your members, please give us a call. • What We Need From You • Your News – If you have news to share about your association’s activities, send it to the Council at info@supplychaincanada.org. We would be pleased to include it on our homepage, in our newsletter or in our events listing, as appropriate. • Your Input – The CSCSC’s new Chair, Dwayne Hihn, President of Manitoulin Global Forwarding, is interested in speaking with you and your members about our work as a Council and the strategic areas that our stakeholders want us to focus on. Dwayne wants frank and open conversations with key stakeholders to help us drive the vision for your Council and its related activities. Please circulate this request to your chapters and members, and contact Dwayne at dhihn@manitoulingroup.com or 905-283-1600, ext. 83601. Results of these “consultations” will be used as part of the strategic review session planned for the October 20 Board of Directors meeting. October 12, 2010 For further information on any of the above, visit www.supplychaincanada.org, contact info@supplychaincanada.org or call 905-897-1100 / 1-866-616-3468
