Sound • Alliteration – repetition of a beginning consonant sound in • successive words (silly Sally ceased to swim) • Assonance – the repetition of a vowel sound within successive • words (I fight the night while crying) • Euphony – the repetition of sibilant sounds (c,f,h,l,m,n,r,s,v,z) • Cacophony – the repetition of guttural sounds (b,c,d,g,j,k,p,t) • Consonance – the repetition of a consonant sound within • successive words (the later it gets) • Rhyme – End – rhyming at ends of lines • Interior - rhymes within lines • Perfect – words that share the same consonant and • vowel sound • Imperfect – words that share the same vowel sound or • the same consonant sound, but not both
