  2. Supply to the Stadium The Mbombela Stadium will be supplied from a new 132 kV connection from Eskom O/H Line (Marathon – Noordkap), 132 kV O/H Line connection from West Acres Substation and Through 11 kV network from Ilanga Substation.

  3. Technical Progress Matsafeni substation completed and energised 21/01/10 West Acres Line planned completion date 06 May 2010 Outstanding overlay at the stadium to the value of R600, Bergvlam Fan park – two supply to the fan Park An Existing 315KVA and a new 800KVA

Operational Preparation • Substation maintenance on going till 30 April 2010 • Two isolators at delta to be replaced and • A number of insulators • Infrared scanning in place • Critical spares identified and purchased • Human Resource planning – Recall Ex Engineers, Technicians, and Artisans through a maintenance contractor • Persons to render special substation duties during match days

  6. Emergency Operational Plan • Two private companies appointed for breakdown maintenance • Personnel available at the specified locations

  7. Risk and Mitigation • 11KV Cables over loaded in specific areas • De loading project in place (Riverside, Valencia, Ferreira, Sonheuwel, Steiltes) • Insufficient staff to do operations and standby during world cup • Two contractors awarded a tender for Emergency and major breakdowns • West Acres 132 KV line
