  2. The Partnership Dinwiddie County Public Schools partnered with The Dinwiddie County Economic Development and Community Development and Outreach Office to sponsor a Career Pathways Forum.

  3. Goal To create the Top Ten Pathways to prepare our students for jobs to meet the current labor market needs in the region and beyond.

  4. The Participants Our strategically invited audience included… Dinwiddie Chamber Representative Board of Supervisor Rep. (2) School Board Rep (2) High School Principal Guidance Director CTE Department Chair VDOE VA Gateway Region Advisory Council Members School Superintendent County Administrator PEER Consortium Coordinator

Agenda Items Welcome Introduction & Purpose What is a Career Pathway Overview of 16 Career Clusters and Sample Career Pathways for each Graduation requirements as it relates to Career Pathways & CTE Job Marketing Trends for the Region Lunch Break out Sessions Facilitated by PEER Consortium Coordinator Next Steps Conclusion

  6. Breakout Sessions Each participant went to the Career Cluster he or she was interested or had expertise based on the industry or agency they represented Each group gave three top pathways for that career cluster

  7. Next Steps The information was used from the group priorities to compile a list of the Top Ten Pathways for each Career Cluster. This information will help to develop pathways to submit to Perkins for approval and to begin implementing those courses that are needed at Middle & High School that lead to pathways that will provide jobs in the region and beyond.

  8. Conclusion This activity gave validity to the career pathways that are developed. We gained support from the stakeholders and the budget holders needed to reach our goal. It will provide support and resources to prepare students for jobs to meet the current labor market needs in the region and beyond.
