Programming • From Jack and Jill of America Policies and Procedures Manual (Updated 2010) • Children’s activities should include a variety of simple activities that will help them develop rapport and friendship with other children in their group. • Activities should concentrate around the national theme and/or the national programmatic thrust for the year: recreational and social, educational/cultural, service, health, legislative and leadership projects.

  3. Programming Age Groups Children should be grouped by Grades. • Nursery - Grades PreKindergarten-Kindergarten • Primary - Grades 1-3 • Intermediate - Grades 4-5 • Junior Teens - Grades 6-8 (Middle School) • Senior Teens - Grades 9-12 High School

  4. Excellence in Programming • Take and keep photos. • Keep minutes from Program Committee meetings. • Keep a Chapter Scrapbook. • An Activity Report and a Evaluation should be completed and given to the Program Director for all children’s programming activity. • Liability release forms and Medical information forms must be completed for all children annually. These forms should be collected by the Program Director and should be available at every activity in case of an emergency.

  5. Programming Committee • Identify • Recruit • Volunteer • Persuade • Assign Mothers to join this committee. There are many moving parts to Programming.

Sub Committees Recommended • Program Handbook Committee • Jack and Jill Day / Carole Robertson Day Committee • Black Family Day Committee • Father’s Appreciation Committee • Founders Day Committee • Associates Appreciation Committee • Chapter Scrapbook Committee • Mother’s Retreat Committee • Holiday Party/Kwanzaa • Ski Trip Committee

Programming Handbook • Program Books submitted by November 1st. electronically. • Chapter Program Handbook Checklist • Available online • Some ideas ….. • Include historical information (past distinguished mothers, past chapter presidents and years served, past fundraisers, community service projects, fundraisers, etc.) • Include pictures • Include attractive borders

  8. Include National Initiatives in Programming • Jack and Jill Day in September • Carole Robertson Day in September • Founders Day in January • Associates Appreciation in February • Father’s Appreciation in April • Black Family Day in May (first Saturday)

Programming Excellence • Leadership Modules - Include module activities and modify them for younger groups as you plan. • Youth Community Service Form – Make mothers aware of the Community Service Form at the beginning of the year. They are responsible for tracking their child’s activities, getting signatures from the appropriate sources and submitting to the Program Chair in May.

  10. Up The Hill (National Publication) • Work with the Chapter Editor who submits your article and picture(s)in mid January (usually January 15th) online. • Peruse chapter articles now to familiarize yourself with the format. • Graduating Seniors • Need Bios and pictures. Have parents start looking at Up the Hill and preparing as soon as possible. Seniors are very busy with college applications, interviews, school, etc. • Cotillions and Beautillions • Need Bios and pictures.

  11. Scope (National Publication) • Chapter Editor submits online in mid February (usually February 15th) • Save article summaries and photos from each month’s activities to be ready.

  12. End of Year Evaluation (EOY) Tool • Each chapter receives the online link and your chapter’s personal code. • Evaluation is completed online. • Chapters will receive results for planning purposes.

National Convention – Chicago, IL July 27, 2010 - Aug 1, 2010 • Youth Summit – Celebration for Teens 13 and older who completed and submitted 3 Leadership Modules and 3 Financial Modules for this Program Year Tuesday, July 27, 2010 – 9:00am -6:00pm • Including neighboring Boys and Girls Club members who have also completed the modules

  15. National Convention – Chicago, IL July 27, 2010 - Aug 1, 2010 • Programming Luncheon – Friday, July 30, 2010 • Regional Breakfast – Saturday, July 31, 2010
