  1. Warmup10/31/13 What genes are in your family that you know about? Objective Tonight’s Homework To see genetics in each of us none

  2. Seeing Your Own Traits We’re going to run through a dozen traits and see what percent of the class shows the trait and what percent doesn’t. Here’s what you need to do for each as a class: 1) Make a table like the one below. It will have 13 traits to test. 2) For each trait, count how many people can do it or have it. Write the totals under “yes” and “no”. 3) Guess what you think is dominant for each trait.

  3. Seeing Your Own Traits #1) Tongue Rolling (Can you do it?)

  4. Seeing Your Own Traits #2) Attached Earlobe (Is yours attached or free?)

  5. Seeing Your Own Traits #3) Mid-Digital Finger Hair (Do you have any at all?)

  6. Seeing Your Own Traits #4) Hitchhiker’s Thumb (Do you have it?)

  7. Seeing Your Own Traits #5) Widow’s Peak (Do you have one?)

  8. Seeing Your Own Traits #6) Cheek Dimples (Do you have them?)

  9. Seeing Your Own Traits #7) Bent Pinkies (Do they bend at the top or do they stay together the whole way to the tip?)

  10. Seeing Your Own Traits #8) Freckles (Do you have them?)

  11. Seeing Your Own Traits #9) Interlocking Hands (Is it comfortable to place the left thumb on top?)

  12. Seeing Your Own Traits #10) Cleft Chin (Do you have one?)

  13. Seeing Your Own Traits #11) Longer Second Toe (Do you have one?)

  14. Seeing Your Own Traits #12) Finger Spreading (Can you do it?)

  15. Seeing Your Own Traits #13) PTC Paper (Tear off a small piece and put it on your tongue. Does it have a taste?)

  16. Seeing Your Own Traits Collect your class data, finish filling out the table, and hold on to this. You’re going to turn this in to Mr. C.
