Protocol 1988 – Harmonized System of Survey & Certification • List of certificatesrequiredonboardshiprelatingtoharmonizedsystem of survey and • certification (somedependontype of ship) • a) PassengerShip Safety Certificate, including Record of Equipment (Form P); • b) Cargo Ship Safety ConstructionCertificate; • c) Cargo Ship Safety EquipmentCertificate, including Record of Equipment (Form E); • d) Cargo Ship Safety Radio Certificate, including Record of Equipment (Form R); • e) Cargo Ship Safety Certificate, including Record of Equipment (Form C); • f) International Load LinesCertificate; • g) International OilPollutionPreventionCertificate; • h) International PollutionPreventionCertificatefortheCarriage of NoxiousLiquid • Substances in Bulk;

Protocol 1988 Harmonized System of Survey & Certification • i) International Air PollutionPreventionCertificate; • j) International Certificate of FitnessfortheCarriage of DangerousChemicals in Bulk; • k) International Certificate of FitnessfortheCarriage of Liquefied Gases in Bulk; • l) Certificate of FitnessfortheCarriage of DangerousChemicals in Bulk. • Uniformimplementation of HSSC • Existingcertificateswillremainvaliduntilsuch time when HSSC certificates are issuedoruntiltheirexpiration date, whicheverfirstoccurs. • The Cargo Ship Safety ConstructionCertificateistobeused as thebasistoimplementtheHSSC consideringthatthiscertificategovernstheintervalforthedry-dockingsurveys. Usingothercertificatesmayrequirethevesseltoundergoanadditionaldry-dockingsurvey.

  4. Protocol 1988 Harmonized System of Survey & Certification • When Cargo Ship Safety Construction expires firstafterFebruary 17, 2008. • 15. IftheothercertificatesRenewalSurveyshavebeencompletedwithin 3 months of thecompletion of the Cargo Ship Safety ConstructionCertificateRenewalSurvey, thentheotherrenewalsurveys can becredited and a general examination of theothercertificates' items (e.g.Cargo Ship Safety Equipment, Cargo Ship Safety Radio, Load Line and/orOilPollutionPreventioncertificates) needonlybecompletedpursuanttotheissuance of the 5-year HSSC certificates. • 16. IftheothercertificatesRenewalSurveyshavenotbeencompletedwithin 3 months of the • Cargo Ship Safety ConstructionCertificateRenewalsurvey, RenewalSurveys are tobeperformedat the time of Cargo Ship Safety Constructionrenewal.

  5. Protocol 1988 Harmonized System of Survey & Certification Whentheothercertificate(s) expire(s) beforethe Cargo Ship Safety ConstructionCertificatebutafterFebruary 17, 2008 18. They are toberenewed in HSSC formatwiththeirvaliditylimitedtothevalidity date of the current Cargo Ship Safety Construction. Thiswillestablish a new anniversary date fortheother certificates so thatwhenthe Cargo Ship Safety Constructionisrenewed, allcertificateswillthenberenewed and re-issuedwith a 5-year validityperiod and thesamesurveydue date. 19. Theothercertificatesissuedmayhaveaninitialvaliditylessthan 5 years. In this case, annualendorsementsshouldstartwiththe top line and proceeddownuntilthecertificate expires, recognizingthatnotallendorsementlineswillbesigned.
