  1. Mercy Otis Warren Mercy Otis Warren was a political writer and a propagandist of the American Revolution. Published poems and plays that criticized the royal authority in Massachusetts. In 1790 she published a serious of plays and poems under her own name which was very uncommon for women at the time. She believed in women's intellectual equality with men, but did not promote the cause of women's political rights.

  2. Benjamin Banneker • Benjamin Banneker was a free African American astronomer. As well as a mathematician, surveyor, almanac author and farmer. Benjamin made astronomical calculations that predicted solar and lunar eclipses.
