This document provides an in-depth overview of the General Architecture for Text Engineering (GATE), focusing on its applications in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Information Extraction (IE). It highlights the Ontology-Based Information Extraction (OBIE) system, showcasing how to annotate documents and improve models using tools like OCAT. The training course, held in Montreal from August 30 to September 3, 2010, covers various modules, including semantic annotation, linked data management, and semantic search methods. Explore advanced techniques in semantic technology!

GATE • Ontology-Based Information Extraction • http://gate.ac.uk/demos/obie/obie.html • The OBIE movie shows how to: • load an unannotated document and automatically annotate it with OBIE (Ontology-Based Information Extraction), • manually add, delete and change annotations using OCAT (Ontology Corpus Annotation Tool), which displays an ontology tree of annotations, and • send the document back to the trainer to improve the model incrementally.
