  2. What is the Problem? • There are certain rules that say who can and cant live on Hawaiian homelands. • Not all Hawaiians are allowed to lease land unless they are 50% Hawaiian or 25% if they inherit land.

Probing Questions • How long do you have to wait for land? • How much land can you own? • Can you quantify % of a race, ethnicity, culture? • Who can you pass your property to? • What does Rapa Nui have to do with the blood quantum policy? • Is this a biological, political, or cultural issue? • Will the law ever change so that you don’t need to be 50%?

What we know • Hawaiian Homelands are only allowing Native Hawaiians with 50% or if you have 25% and you inherit land. • Everyone is 99.9% identical genetically speaking. • According to Wikipedia, the Hawaiian homelands goal is to enable native Hawaiians to return to their lands in order to fully support self sufficiency of native Hawaiians and the self determination of native Hawaiians in the administration of this Act, and the preservation of the values, traditions, and culture of native Hawaiians.

  6. Solutions • Fight to change laws • Give land back to our people • Prove that ethnicity cant be determined by biological concepts • Fight for independence
