  3. Millennium at Furman University • Implemented in 2005 • Provides access to over 1 million records • Circulates 42,000+ items a year • Catalogs 250,000+ items a year • Supports 55,000+ searches a year through the Library’s website

  4. The Millennium Conundrum Something is rotten…! • Running version 2009B 1.5 on a Sun 240V server • Server at risk of failing due to age • Version of Millennium no longer supported

  5. Considering Our Options To thine own self be true! • Continue with current server and version • Purchase a new server and upgrade to the new version • Move to a hosted server and upgrade to the new version

  7. Preparing To Migrate Readiness is all! • Schedule date and time • Work with III migration team • Plan with Furman IT for DNS and firewall changes • Contact third parties • Publicize internally and externally • Assemble testing team • Complete any pre-migration system activities and changes

  8. Migration Day Get thee to a server farm! • Confirm prep is complete • Remain on stand-by during migration • Coordinate post-migration testing • Troubleshoot as needed
