We Are At War With A Real Enemy • Ephesians 6:11,12 “do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” • 1 Peter 5:8 “adversary the devil, walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” • John 10:10 “the thief…to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.”

  3. God has Given us What we Need for “Pulling Down Strongholds” • 2 Corinthians 10:4 “weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds” • Does Satan have a “stronghold” in your life? Ephesians 4:27 “nor give place to the devil.” • Ephesians 4:20-24 “put on the new man”

  4. NEED FOR TRUTH • Ephesians 4:21 “truth is in Jesus.” • John 8:31,32 “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” • Satan the father of lies & the great deceiver- John 8:44 “does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him.” • 2 Corinthians 11:3 “deceived Eve by his craftiness”

NEED FOR TRUTH • Jesus is the Way, the Truth & the Life- John 14:6 • John 8:33-36 “if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” • Must set our Course to Walk in Truth- Psalm 86:11 “I walk in Your truth” • 1 Peter 1:22,23 “purified your souls in obeying the truth” • 3 John 4 “walk in truth”

  6. DISPLACEMENT • Ephesians 4:22 “put off..the old Man” • Colossians 3:8,9 “put off…anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth…Do not lie…put off the old man with his deeds.” • Turn away from sin and resolve to no longer practice it – Ezekiel 18:30-32 “turn and live”

  7. DISPLACEMENT • Lay aside every Weight & Sin – Hebrews 12:1 “run with endurance the race that is set before us.” • Must put to death the Deeds of the Body if we Want to Live- Romans 8:12-14 “led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God” • Jesus calls for Radical Amputation- Matthew 18:8,9 “cut it off & cast it from you”

  8. RESISTANCE • Ephesians 4:23 “renewed in the spirit of your mind” • Romans 12:1,2 “do not be conformed” • Submitting & Drawing near to God- James 4:7 “Submit to God…Resist the Devil” • Being Steadfast in the Faith- 1 Peter 5:8,9 “Resist him, steadfast in the faith.” Matthew 4:3-11

RESISTANCE • Changing our Thinking – Proverbs 23:7 “as he thinks in his heart, so is he” • Philippians 4:8,9 “whatever things are true,…noble, …just, …pure, …lovely, whatever things are of good report,…any virtue & praiseworthy-- meditate on these things… and the God of peace will be with you”

OCCUPATION • Ephesians 4:24 “put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness & holiness” • Romans 13:13,14 “put on the Lord Jesus Christ, & make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” • New Man Created in Baptism- Romans 6:3,4 “baptized into Christ… walk in newness of life.” • Galatians 3:27 “put on Christ”

  11. OCCUPATION • Leave no place or vacancy for the devil- Ephesians 4:27 “nor give place to the devil.” • Matthew 12:43-45 “last state of that man worse than the first” • Must put off Old man and put on the New man – Colossians 3:10-17 “whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus”

  12. FORTIFICATION • Ephesians 6:10 “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord & in the power of His might” • Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”

  13. FIVE THINGS TO REMEMBER: • Appeal to Truth – “truth will make you free” • Displacement – kick Satan out of your life • Resistance – renew your mind- get thinking right • Occupation – put on the new man with his deeds • Fortification – Add the things to your life God provides to make you strong

  14. BREAK OUT OF SATAN’S GRASP!
